Intervention research using mobile applications to prevent frailty in the early elderly: Single case study

Seven older women participated in this study. The mean age was 69.9 +/- 3.2 years and the mean body mass index (BMI) was 22.5 +/- 3.4 kg/m2. One participant (14.3%) was classified as pre-frail. The mean score on the Japanese version of the HLS-EU-Q47 was 25.9 +/- 5.2, and all participants were categorized as having insufficient health literacy. The mean handgrip strength was 22.8 +/- 1.5 kg, and the mean walking speed was 1.3 +/- 0.2 m/s.

Seven community-dwelling older women with insufficient health literacy were enrolled in the study. All participants completed the study, and no participants withdrew during the study period. Therefore, data from all seven participants were included in the final analysis.

1. Individuals who can give written consent to participate in the study of their own free will
2. Community-dwelling elderly people aged 65 to 75 years at the time of consent
3. Gender (Female)
4. Individuals who are independent in walking and daily activities
5. Individuals who have been determined to have reduced health literacy

1. Participants who are judged to be hearing impaired, visually impaired, central paralysis, severe orthopedic disease, or affected by medication.
2. Participants who have poor standing posture and significantly reduced balance ability.
3. Participants whose cognitive function is so significantly reduced that it is deemed to interfere with conversation and makes it difficult to complete a questionnaire survey.
