Counselors' self-efficacy increased after the program compared to before. Self-assessment of cognitive behavioral therapy skills increased after the program compared to before. It also increased after the session where participants themselves performed role-play compared to before that session. Anxiety about implementing cognitive behavioral therapy showed a tendency to decrease before and after the session where participants themselves performed role-play, but no significant change was observed. Motivation to learn cognitive behavioral therapy showed a tendency to increase before and after the session where participants themselves performed role-play, but no significant change was observed. Self-identified challenges regarding conducting psychological interventions, including cognitive behavioral therapy showed no change in the number of identified challenges before and after the session where participants themselves performed role-play. |

This study created and implemented a peer learning program involving psychological interviews conducted by simulated patients and clinical psychology graduate students. This program investigated how students' self-efficacy changed over time, as well as factors related to self-efficacy. Psychological interview role-playing with simulated patients was found to potentially enhance clinical psychology graduate students' self-efficacy as counselors and their self-assessment of interview skills. |
